3. How to read NX version?
NX 12.0.2 MP 10 – Base/Major Release
NX 12.0.2 MP 10 – Minor Release
NX 12.0.2 MP 10 – Maintenance Release
NX 12.0.2 MP 10 – Maintenance Pack
Major release includes major changes to the application functionalities of the software, enhancements and involves changes to the database.
4. Difference between Maintenance Release and Maintenance Pack
Maintenance release was important updates for all NX users. They contained new functionalities, enhancements and important bug fixes to the base release.
Maintenance packs were the updates to Maintenance Releases. Each Maintenance Release had it’s own Maintenance Pack(s).
e.g. NX 12.0.2 MP 0
NX 12.0.2 MP 1
NX 12.0.2 MP 2 and so on
They were released to address particular problems. They were optional and not applicable to all the NX users or customers.
Prior to NX 12, There was specified sequence of NX installation with respect to the base release, maintenance release and maintenance pack.
e.g. For NX 11, It is required to setup in the following sequence
1. Install NX 11
2. Install the Maintenance Release (MR) NX 11.0.2
3. Install any Maintenance Pack (MP) NX 11.0.2 MP 10
Starting from NX 12, Maintenance release was provided as full installations. If it is needed to run NX 12.0.2 then it is not required to install NX 12 first, but one can install NX 12.0.2 directly.
